Teaching Tools for Parents and Educators

Just like a museum hosts school groups and families, parents can create a fun learning environment at home by using the same tools that your child's teacher uses in the classroom.  As more time in schools is being devoted to teaching content that is on state administered tests, it is more important than ever that parents take the responsibility to teach things that there just isn't time for in our schools.  If you are a parent, don't be intimidated.   These Teaching Tools are all created to National or State Science Education Standards.  Using these tools will will become a fun learning experience for everyone!

Understanding Evolution

Picture
Discussing evolution can be difficult.  Many people who are not scientists have a difficult time understanding just what evolution is and what it isn't.  Evolution is a scientific theory that has been tested and re-tested for over 150 years by tens of thousands of scientists all over the world.  These tests prove the theory.   Every day, evolution, in some big or small way, affects our lives, whether it is through vaccines or antibiotics, or the food we eat.

Still, despite all this proof, people often misunderstand.  Often it is simply because they haven't had the opportunity to learn about the scientific process.  We have put together some information that will help you understand a bit more about this complex and sometimes contentious area of science.
